Our Tobacco Cessation Program is a one-time session that takes about an hour to go through. When you come in Dr. McGill will ask you questions about your motivations to quit, and concerns that you may have about withdrawals, weight gain, etc. He tailors each session to the individual, so the information you give him can greatly affect the success you achieve. He will explain the process for stopping, and how to get the best results. He will explain and demonstrate how hypnosis works, and answer any questions you may have. Once the explanation is complete, you have two options. If you want to go through the session, he will then proceed with the therapy, or, if you feel that it is not what you expected you could opt to pass and not owe anything for the consultation.
Upon completing the therapy session Dr. McGill will give you a list of things that can help with the nicotine detoxification, and the outline of the steps you are to follow to make it all work successfully. Micro-Current Acupuncture is included to help reduce nicotine withdrawals. The combination of Hypnosis and Acupuncture is unique to Dr. McGill's program. Our follow-up policy has always been, that if at anytime you should use any tobacco product after you leave our office, you can come back free of charge, provided you come in within seven days of the first use. Dr. McGill has been doing hypnotherapy longer than anyone in the area on a regular basis and his success rate is 85-90%

The United States Health Department reports that smokers tend to die five to ten years before non-smokers. That is a pretty good reason to quit, right? Still, tobacco addicts cling to the self-destructive habit. Smoking can be just as injurious to the heart as to the lungs. Actually, when a person lights up a cigarette, he does not relax. Sitting down is relaxing, not the smoking. Smoking increases tension. If you have ever watched a person puff away on a cigarette as if his life depended on it, you would see he is far from relaxed. One of the most difficult aspects of breaking the smoking habit is its tendency to accompany other activities that are relaxing. For example, during coffee breaks or after dinner, a smoker will often light up a cigarette. Coffee breaks are supposed to be a time of relaxation, but for many people, they represent time to reinforce bad habits. Consider this, even the mildest filter tip cigarette speeds up the heartbeat, upsets circulation, and limits oxygen to the lungs.
